160th Commemoration of the Battle of Brandy Station
On June 9-11, 2023, Culpeper Battlefield Tours, LLC (CBT) and its partners are hosting real-time tours, and a living history experience, including a cavalry and artillery reenactment, and a film talk and movie screening to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Brandy Station.
Among the many events in which guests can participate, CBT’s certified guides will lead FREE, real-time tours of the Battlefield on June 9th starting at 5:30 AM, the approximate start time of the battle. Guests can find the locations and schedule of the tour on CBT’s event page. Guests can also experience a living history camp, cavalry and artillery reenactments, and several lectures on June 10th and 11th.
The cost to attend the living history and re-enactments on June 10th and 11th is a parking charge of $15 per vehicle per day if purchased in advance online. Event day parking can be purchased on-site for $20 per vehicle per day and guests are encouraged to carpool.
All battlefield events will take place at the intersection of St. James Church Road and Beverly Ford Road in Brandy Station, VA, next to the Culpeper Regional Airport.
On Sunday, June 11 at 4:00 PM, CBT will also host a film talk and screening of the movie Gettysburg. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the movie. Director Ron Maxwell will be in-person to discuss the film which is relevant to the commemoration activities since the Battle of Brandy Station was the opening battle of the Gettysburg campaign.
